When Albert Einstein said "Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better." Do you think he meant on a molecular level or do you think he meant look into the soul and heart of a animal?
Both, demonstrating the beauty of the statement. Though as you know, the church does not believe animals have souls. They of course are wrong, as it is man who often does not have a soul.
Pope John Paul II said "also the animals possess a soul and men must love and feel solidarity with our smaller brethern". I think he meant to include the enormous ones as well.
Even a fruit fly. There was a PBS special about a fly I think it was a fruit fly and they took a video in slow motion and the fly actually backed away when it saw a shadow of I think it was a fly swatter! They are thinking and show animated characteristics which means they have a soul! The movie "Super Fly" carries merit. I think the experiments were conducted at Cal Tech. I can't remember the name of the program. Do you get PBS over there?
