I just thought of something. If we have an early warning system for earthquakes, everyone should make a cover made from plastic bubble wrap and duct tape and wrap themselves up in it to prevent any injury! You think that would work or would the things that fall on people would be too overwhelming?
However one would have to think about fire hazards so maybe the bubble wrap should be sandwiched between to sheets of fire proof sheets of something before fashioning a shelter or outfit. And you need to think about being able to breathe of course.

By cover, I mean like a sleeping bag type or even a space suit!
